We had an 04 Nissan Murano towed into our shop. Had oil changed at Walmart....leaving parking lot, stalled. Now it starts, stalls, starts, stalls only will run for a few seconds.

Monitor shows no codes, with only switch on, no RPM reading, no volt reading, no TPS reading, only reading showing up is Coolant Temp Sensor at -58 degrees.

Only other information we have is that the engine has been replaced.

Anyone have any experience with this vehicle and similar problem? Don't want to just start replaceing parts.

knock on the fuel tank. it might be out of fuel. no matter what gauge reads

If coolant sensor is reading -58 then they prob knocked the connector off or broke the sensor.

Sounds like the 5 volt reference is shorted or open. If engine had been replaced, I'd start looking around at the harness. Since it occured right after the oil change, I'd look in areas they would have been in first.

Agree with Ric. Look in the areas they would have been to change the oil and the filter. Also look to see if they had checked the air filter and possibly knocked the air intake boot loose.

not sure on this one but i seem to remember having issues of a vehicle shutting down because it was reading low oil pressure. it was a fail safe. another suggestion i would make is to tell the customer to notify his insurance carrier. the vehicle may have been run with no oil in the shop and only discovered after it started making noise. now the cam or crank sensor are covered with metal filings. the 5 second run sounds like a built in. it's programmed to run so the sensors have time to ramp up and after that time will automatically shut down if no reading is seen by the pcm. another thing that's floating around is if the sensors are near each other you can't overlook the possibility that the connectors were knocked off and the "master tech" pounded them on the wrong sensor. i've seen this before and unfortunately had this happen on an engine r&r on a, wait for it, a nissan.

Fixed......Yeah!! Replaced both camshaft sensors. Rear one was melted or broke when we finally got it out....Thanks for all the tips.
