2017 Corolla ATF check

Post by Rich »

We have a 17 Corolla in here, from a body shop. We need to check the ATF. It appears that the normal "stove pipe" in the pan is not like they use to be. This style needs an "adapter" screwed into stove pipe and then filled to a certain mark, which is higher than the top of the stove pipe. Does any one have one of these? If so can you point to where we can get one please?

This is a link to a video showing one on an older version. Skip forward to 23:00 to see tool we need.

Possibly the part numbers contained in this TSB?

10002-00101-1 and 10002-00101-6

Not sure if this is the tool for the CVT, but definitely for the Aisin U660 and U760. SI for 2016 CVT K313 shows internal stove-pipe.

By the sounds of it now (talking to a different tech) we have the fitting to go in the pan, what we need is the vacuum hose parts.

EDIT, the kit we have does not have the adjustable hose thingymabob, Still searching for one now..

Ric, I sent an email off to my buddies at the Toyota dealer to see if the tools can be ordered right from Toyota. I have not asked any tool truck dudes yet. I searched (no comments guys) the world over and came up blank.

Note to self: Never buy a '17 Corolla, it's impossible to check the tranny fluid level. :)

So it would appear that some transmissions without dipsticks that used to have a built in standpipe for fluid level checking now are coming with nothing more than a drain plug. The tool screws into the drain plug hole and is essentially an adjustable standpipe depending on what you're working on. The vacuum components are in place to prevent fluid from pouring out while you're either installing or removing the adjustable standpipe.

Thanks Rich for bringing this to light. Let us know where you find the tools. I'll need them too.

Update, as of now I have not received any information from the dealer on price or availability of these tools. :(
