2003 Toyota 4-Runner V8 4x4 TC Motor Not Working

Post by 92zman »

We have a 2003 toy 4runner that the 4 wheel drive does not work. Looked at and then found the Transfer Case Motor was not working. The lights would just flash when u tried to do anything. So put in a new one and now the lock light flashes all the time and will not do anything. Then while I was looking at it smelled a burn smell and found the module to be burnt. Wanted to know if anyone has seen this before or not. Want to make sure i am not missing anything be fore I install a new module.

I have never seen a module burn up. Usually they are well protected.

I've seen it lots of times. Some questions....

Does it go into 4wd now?
How did you replace the transfer case actuator? New actuator and opened the case? Used actuator with used case?

Wow. Just out of curiosity, were they new OEM or aftermarket?
