NO IGNITION FIRE.

TRYING TO ACCESS ECM BUT KEEP GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE ON SCAN TOOL. THINKING MAY HAVE A BAD ECM.

ANY IDEAS? THANKS

Anytime I have a communication issue, I start by checking powers and grounds to the non-communicating module. The I see if I can communicate to any other modules on the same bus. If I can't, I scope the bus to see if it has a short. If I can communicate to other modules, then I try a different scanner just in case. If I still can't communicate, I check the 5 volt reference to see if it's present and/or shorted.

I've been wanting one for a while. I backprobe for now but comm issues are getting more prevalent.

We dont use it often but its a lifesaver when you need it.

reminds me of the break out box for older fords. I'm also running into comm issues and with fords i push in the lighter or probe it for power. I can't even begin to tell how many fords i work on that have been to other shops and when i ask the owner if the check engine light is on they say no and the other shops say that there are no codes. It's at the point when i walk out to it to scan it i carry a pocket screw driver an a 15 amp fuse. I'm seeing fuses missing as well.

this tool looks a bit interesting, not that i'm a tool whore or anything. I'm in the process of moving my office around a bit and i'm going to store my little toy tools in it so i can tinker around with them. I'm easily entertained.

Got the old ford break out box also have an 89 cougar in right now had to use it on also it has no comm on that pos.
