Rebuilt cylinder head because of broken timing belt and bent valves. Upon completion, we get no fuel flow to the distribution (hi pressure pump). I cannot find an electric supply fuel pump in the system. No fuel pressure to the injectors. Any ideas? The timing belt alignment is correct.

The fuel pump on the 1.9L TDI engine is part of the injection pump assembly and draws fuel from the tank with vacuum. Check for potential loss of fuel system prime as follows:

1. Use a hand held vacuum pump with a bleeding reservoir to prime the system.

2. Remove the fuel return line from the injection pump to the fuel tank and apply vacuum to the pump side until fuel is present. Reconnect the return line.

3. Be sure to check the water drain in the fuel filter and the fuel lines for leaks.

4. Attempt to start the vehicle. It should now start normally.

Maybe this will help you out a bit.....

Thank you!! That did it. I knew we didn't have fuel there, just couldn't figure out how it was going to get there. I kept looking for a supply pump.

Vehicle runs great.
