2001 VW Beetle - Dsl Poor Power C17964 FIXED

Post by Princeton Auto »

The vehicle starts and runs smoothly, but no power. Acts as if there is no boost from the turbo. That is not the case! Plenty of boost from the turbo, but it doesn't seem to be breathing well. Runs as if the exhaust is clogged up. Code 17964 -- Charge Pressure Control or Control Limit Not Reached is present. All of the diagnostics related to this code have been performed with no definitive result.

Any Ideas?

Check the intake and the EGR ports. These clog all the time and could cause this breathings issue. The turbos sometimes fail to vary, even though they spin. Control rods for the wastegate and vacuum lines to the system often fail. These are real fun. Good luck.
