1999 VW Jetta GLS - Air Bag Code 01226

Post by Goose »

Had a 99 Jetta GLS in last week that was hit on the left side center and exploded the drivers side air bag and seat belt pretentioner. I replaced the seat and seat belt assembly and reset the codes. I could not get code 01226 to reset. The code is for "crash data side air bag drivers side stored". Anyone have an idea how to reset this code? My Snap-on Modis will not do the trick. Do I need a factory scan tool to reset this code?

Most stored codes set in Sdm after a deployment require SDM replacement on domestic vehicles. Not sure if vw is the same. hth Jerry Will probably have to replace sensor also and recode with factory scan tool.

According to my information, you can reset that code twice, then it becomes a hard code and the control module must be replaced.

I saw that also but it appears that it will set a code for "Control Module Malfuntion" before the module has to be replaced.

Yes, usually. But it IS a VW, so anything goes. LOL. I'd be getting a module.
