My customer came in telling me she has a problem in the morning with the car slipping in 1st gear when its cold first thing in the morning. I checked the car, but couldnt find anything that would make me believe its slipping.

Anyone have any ideas to what it could be?

Thanks

She prob is not feeling the trans engage when she puts it in drive, the computer does not engage drive with the brakes on with a cold engine. I think there might be a TSB or something on this. As soon as she accelerates just a bit it should go fine and then be fine after that. If that matches her symptoms, it is normal operation...

This is a new one on me. Any idea what the thinking might have been in programming it that way. I have a few VW customers. I'll keep this in mind as winter approaches.

I think it had to do with cold start emmisions, best I remember.
