Re: readme for v 9.0.0.2951
Thanks.
Am I the only one that asks for a readme prior to installing a new update. If others are asking as well would it be possible to put a link w/the readme on M1Files in addition to the DOWNLOAD functionality. That way, prior to download/install we could see what was fixed/addressed prior to installing.

Yeah, to be fair it's not a common request, Dan.
I get it, because I like to see this kind of thing for a lot of software I use as well.
Two things of note: 1. These notes do display in the window when an update is ready, so you can view them prior to installation 2. The reality is updating is really the illusion of a choice. Though we do our best to allow ample time for users to apply updates, it's not as though you could simply opt to stop doing them. We eventually stop supporting old versions and require updates as the first step to troubleshooting.

Re: readme for v 9.0.0.2951
Thanks for the update. Regarding 1. When the update is ready? Is this for Releases or updates/revisions posted to M1Files? What window? Regarding 2. Each update has been taking about 30 minutes to apply. It would be nice to SEE what's been updated in advance to applying so we can decide if we need to update during normal business hours/ASAP or whether we can delay for a bit and schedule the update after hours.Silky7 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:11 amYeah, to be fair it's not a common request, Dan.

Re: readme for v 9.0.0.2951
So here's what the normal update window looks like. We do our best to estimate the time it will take for you as well. For instance, here is 9.0, which we suggest more time for due to the SQL upgrade:
Our release cycle does take a couple of months - we never want to create a wait for people calling into Tech Support, so we try to balance the number of updates sent out daily.M1 Product Manager

Re: readme for v 9.0.0.2951
We're currently on 9.0.0.2400. If I select Help -> Check for Updates it comes back w/no update available even though 9.0.0.2951 is available. This has been the case prior to 9.0.0.2400 as well. That said the readme w/the est. time to installed doesn't come up until you've downloaded the update locally and started the update, correct? If that's the case, while it is helpful prior to install, it doesn't really save any time in deciding when to allocate time to due the install. It seems that someone @ Michell1 has already installed the update and knows what's in the update. Couldn't they just post a link to a text file readme in M1Files or elsewhere prior to downloading the install?

Re: readme for v 9.0.0.2951
Unless you run those WIP reports, you don't need the later 9.0 versions. The focus of those later 9.0 patches was otherwise all with the installation process itself.

Re: readme for v 9.0.0.2951
Understood, but I wouldn't know that w/o seeing the readme. Since the readme isn't normally posted anywhere in advance of downloading the update we wouldn't know that. Therefore the request to have it posted.

If you had waited for the update to push to your computers, you would have seen the window and the entire readme.
