License Plate Not Bringing Up VIN?

Since the update I have had a few cars that did not give the VIN and vehicle info by entering the plate number, I wasn't sure if this was a new issue due to the update or if this was a coincidence?

I have not had an issues here (7.2.8 ). Double check to be you are entering zeroes and zeroes and ohs as ohs.

We have tried every way possible and it doesn't work any way for some vehicles the most recent was DTJ 5817 Michigan plate, the vehicle is a 2012 Kia Soul

Just a note on this. Plate-to-VIN services rely on state automotive bureau information being available for a plate, and therefore 100% decoding will never be possible. Beyond a quick double check to make sure you have a plate recorded accurately, I'd recommend you go straight for the VIN in the future, as opposed to spending too much time trying to force plate combinations.

In this specific example, no site I tried returns information for that plate. (E.g., Autocheck.com, Vincheckpro.com).

Same experience here. Many newly registered vehicles are not in the system yet, and specialty/vanity plates rarely decode. I usually try it first, then move to VIN.

I see it a lot. Sometimes I figure it is maybe not registered, I fat fingered or who knows the real cause. I try it once if not then I input vin. I have also had the plate pull up the wrong vehicle before so I try to look close as a precaution.
