Windows Update 1803 Breaks Mitchell Manager!!!!!

Post by Gerald Martin »

I found out the hard way that letting Windows 10 Pro install the April 2018 update does not play well with Manager. Don't install it, you will have to roll back the update if you do. I do wish Mitchell would put up a forum post warning about this type of thing, or send an email blast...It might save shop owners hours of grief.

To be clear, I think this is a Windows problem. But could there be a way to send out alerts to subscribers on issues like this? It would limit the triage, wouldn't it?

I;m not sure how updates work for programmers, but I would assume they get them at the same time? How would they know?

What exactly "broke"? I know in the latest update they are removing the homegroup - so is it a problem with them networking together?

Today was a busy day at Mitchell 1. Microsoft released a .NET update to many Windows computers, the result is it broke Manager and no doubt hundreds of other programs. We have reported this to Microsoft and have developed a solution that is now available. The update can be downloaded and installed from M1files. Mitchell 1 apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this Microsoft update. The Manager SE Marquee will display on the startup with directions for your version of Manager. Please apply the update immediately.

We are absolutely leveraging every notification tool available to ensure our customers get through this with the least amount of difficulty.

And THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this. I see my splash screen has changed already. This let me know as soon as you could have. I will run this update when the shop closes for lunch.
