Quickbooks Integrator

Post by GermanAutohaus »

Do you have to have Quickbooks installed on the same computer as the ShopKey server?

- We currently have them installed on two different computers.
- While on the Quickbooks computer when we try to sync with ShopKey, it gives an error saying "Database connection failed".
- We contacted tech support to look at the log file on the Quickbooks computer, to which they said, "it looks like you're missing the Shopkey database on this computer".
- We've previously been able to sync Quickbooks with ShopKey, but ShopKey has never been installed on the Quickbooks computer.
- On the Quickbooks computer we went to the ShopKey Integrator 'Settings' to make it point to the database location, but there's no configurable option to make it point to anywhere.

Is there a separate program you have to run to make Quickbooks point to the ShopKey server?

Thank you for any assistance!

Good Morning German Autohaus,

Your Quickbooks PC doesn't need to have Shopkey SE installed; however, it does need to be on the same network as the server to do all the syncing. I've put in a request for our Quickbooks team to contact you as soon as they are available to have a look.

Have a great day!

Hello,
Here you will find the answer to your question- http://m1faqs.com/fix/qbi/QBI_FAQS.pdf

Does QBI have to be installed on the Host PC?
QBI can be installed on either the Host PC or a Workstation. It is important that QBI is setup on a PC that is onsite, and has both QuickBooks (desktop version) and Manager SE installed. A good rule of thumb is
to install where it is convenient for the person who will be performing the syncs

** ISSUE RESOLVED **

Shopkey SE does have to be installed on the same computer as Quickbooks, but an active license for Skopkey SE is not required on that specific PC.

Quickbooks simply uses the installed Shopkey file system to reference the Shopkey HOST/SERVER location on the network.
