Added Non-Standard 'Vehicle'; Entry Not Saved?

Post by GUTHTIRE »

Note: this may have been entered by someone previously however after initial search I couldn't find it...

When adding a new vehicle (Make & Model) manually, not in the database, the information is in RED. Once the vehicle is "saved", if you click elsewhere, a new tab for example, then click back on the Make or Model fields they go blank and the Make or Model information previously entered is lost. What is the possibility of having an "ADD to Database" button not unlike adding new words to the dictionary?

We service lawn mower & tractors, motorcycles, RV's, Motor Homes, Contractor Trailers & Horse Trailers. Using the example of motorcycles, it would be ideal if the information could be saved to the database as we have quite a few Harley Davidson's, Honda's, and Yamaha's that come in. Each time a new bike comes in we have to type in "Harley Davidson" as well if someone happens to click on either the Make or Model fields.

I'm surprised no one else has experienced this issue. Is it just our installation that performs this way?

8.1.4

We have a customer in here now, he owns an International 574 tractor. in the VIN i have the "Vin" number (2310011B1006635X) the year is blank, make - international, model - 574, all of that information is Red, That is the only information we have entered. I tried to duplicate what your saying and the information remains in the system. Maybe its because we have a "vin" entered? I will do some more looking at these kinds of vehicles that may not have a VIN

Found one with out a vin,

year - 1948
Make - Diamond T
Model - 201
Engine - Hercules

It also remains in the system when I click around.

year - 1967
Make - dodge
model - power wagon WM300
Engine - flat head 6
This Ro is 6 months old and has not changed

There is no need for a Save to Database button as this information is always saved - unless you were to click Exit on Vehicle screen and answer NO to save changes to vehicle information.

Please contact technical support about this.

Just to clarify, perhaps my initial explanation was off. Assuming the year, make, model are all red because these aren't standard system lookups. If you go back to that vehicle and click in the, for example, model field is the data retained or do you need to re-enter "power wagon WM300"? In our system the field clears and you have to re-enter what was in there previously.

Hi Dan,

This is how the database is structured for custom vehicle entries:
2020-04-24 10_46_31-5VSSPD2_SHOPSTREAM.ShopMgt - SM.UserVehicleAttributes - Microsoft SQL Server Man.png
2020-04-24 10_46_31-5VSSPD2_SHOPSTREAM.ShopMgt - SM.UserVehicleAttributes - Microsoft SQL Server Man.png (3.33 KiB) Viewed 3755 times
To translate: It's saving the Year, Make, Model, Engine(if it had been entered) and Body attributes that were entered, and therefore those should all be recalled. When I pull up this vehicle in Manager, that's what I get filled in.
