UPDATE:

Today I saw a preview of a font selector; it allows users to change the font size and/or use a BOLD option, Coming soon.

TIP: to making changes to the WIP stick on the first try:
1. Make the changes to WIP as desired.
2. Click WIP button to display splash "home" screen.
3. Return to WIP and go about your business.

>>> I'm told it is going directly from WIP changes to the Order screen is what causes your changes to not be saved.
Give that a try and let us know.

Wow!!!
I am shocked that, at the very least, long time users of Manager SE were not warned about 8.5.02 issues. The WIP screen is now a disaster. Isn't there a way to give SE users the option to revert back to the previous version??? Very frustrating!!!

My experience with the new version has been fairly positive. What has worked for me is this.

Rearrange the columns as desired. Once finished, close the program, then reopen it. I have done this on all four of our workstations and it has worked and has kept the configuration.

We have had discussions here over time about replacing the WIP screen grid from what was current to one by Dev Express to gain new capabilities. The SE 8.5.02 was the first implementation. We stopped distribution and patched to a newer version. Have you updated to SE 8.5.0. 90 yet?

Let's break this down. The issues as I know them are:
1) the font size looks smaller in the Dev Express grid. (font size selector to address this - discussed above for next release soon)
2) WIP screen changes not being retained: the key is not making WIP screen changes then going to the Order screen. (making changes, closing SE saves them, then resume)

Is there something else?

YES....we are running 8.5.0.90 on all terminals. And we are having the issues exactly as you described. Is 8.5.0.90 supposed to be working correctly??? What am I missing here???

Thanks

1. The Font size adjustment feature is coming in SE 8.5.1 (few weeks away)
2. The work-around for making WIP screen changes stick is exiting then restarting SE on that PC. I do not know yet if / when this will no longer be required.

Key personnel returning today, I'll ask what the latest is on this.

UPDATE: Ok...I just tried the workaround on ordering columns and closing program with just a few changes. Re-opened SE and it held the column order as I had tried. So I decided to re-order and resize all my columns to my liking. But before I could close the program, it reverted back to the first save. Only thing I can figure that might have triggered it not holding my 2nd try is that my advisor opened his terminal (not mine) to set an appointment....(but all three terminals are set to my name as user for consistency).

Anyway....I will give it another go.

Thank you guys (especially you Tim) for all you do!!!

If you have more than one station with the same user, the method of closing all workstations except one, making your changes and the shutting down still applies.

Thanks for the continued updates Tim,

I think we are going to wait until the WIP font selector is available and tested to make the switch to the latest update.

This is the sequence that has worked for me so far.

Many Thanks to others who have helped us along the way!

Ok, so I spoke too soon. This afternoon, I opened up the shop management system and - the WIP screen has every column again. It worked for a few days but now I am back to my frustration again. Even if I try rearranging the columns and let them all there, within a short time, it goes back to default setting.

Extremely frustrating!!!!!

It seems that the old method no longer works. And the new method likewise. Seems to hold if I don't shut down the host.

Tried all the above steps. Worked until the next day. Now columns are back to default setting.

I'm going to add to a strange occurrences. I am the only one that uses my user. Randomly, the number column disappears from the screen & I have to use the column chooser to put it back on the screen. Luckily Tim had put that info on the thread, so I could find where it went!

I had not messed with the column arrangement prior to this happening.

This will indeed be fixed in 8.5.1.

Apologies for the delay, but we also wanted to expand the customization of appearance based on early feedback to increase the font size, which came prior to discovery of the problem.

This update should be available not too long after the holidays.

My service writer & my eyes will thank you for the increased font size! I had updated the machines over the weekend & hadn't said anything. The first thing he said was.....did someone make the font smaller???? I told him his eyes were bad
