CATEGORY SEARCH
Sorry if I have over looked it, but is there a way to search what jobs have been done in a category say for Brakes, or Engine mechanical for a certain time period, say 1 month?
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

There are a few options depending on what you want to know:nickscarcare wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 7:52 amSorry if I have over looked it, but is there a way to search what jobs have been done in a category say for Brakes, or Engine mechanical for a certain time period, say 1 month?
Management tab >
1. Canned Job Usage - date range + one/all categories will return total CJs per category
Accounting tab >
2. Category Profit Summary - date range + one/all categories - provides Profit $ / % + breakdowns of Parts, Labor, etc. Totals
3. Category Profit Custom List - date range + choose categories to report; separate pages for parts & labor with color bar charts

Re: CATEGORY SEARCH
Close, but I would like to know how many jobs were done and who for that category

That's a tough combination to address. What is the question this needs to specifically answer?nickscarcare wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:32 amClose, but I would like to know how many jobs were done and who for that category
The majority of our rendered reports in Manager SE are either about posted invoices in terms of costs / profits expressed in $ or % regardless of the type of work performed or who sold to.
The jobs sold report does supply the number of times each was sold but doesn't concern itself with customer data either.
There are a couple other (abstract) methods to consider to try to return customer per work data:
1. F4 Find History - VEHICLE tab: Leave the Year/Make/Model fields blank and enter a partial labor description into Wordsearch field and then count the results. This does return customer, vehicle, invoice #, posted date, printed date, invoice $ total. NOTE: View Record would be used to see invoice detail.
2. Management tab > Part # Search report: use a partial P/N and/or description to get a range of data returned (customer, vehicle, invoice #, date sold, etc.

I would also like to be able to do the same. Say oil changes. Who all did I do that for in a given time period. And, it would be super if I could simply click on a name or line and go directly to that invoice.nickscarcare wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:32 amClose, but I would like to know how many jobs were done and who for that category

Re: CATEGORY SEARCH
So say we have a brake special for a month, I would like to have a report that I could go into the brake category, and pull all the ones up for that timeframe. I would have thought there would be a report for this so that way someone could track how much work in different categories they were doing to see where the money comes in at.

Thanks for providing a SPECIFIC example to wake me out of my rendered report thinking. Try this:nickscarcare wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 9:39 amSo say we have a brake special for a month, I would like to have a report that I could go into the brake category, and pull all the ones up for that timeframe. 1. Reports > Followup tab
2. Double-click on any FL entry (we're not going to print the letter) to get to Followup screen
3. Set Service Date to match your brake special month
4. Set Category to Brakes
5. Set to Select for Veh. (Select for Cust will include their other vehicles if any)
6. Click on Search to build your list; switches to View List tab
7. Click on Print; select Print Customer List option; click Continue
8. Select the Sort Customer List option you want (Last Name, INV Date, Tech Name, etc)
9. Your results (totaled for each customer) appear across several pages; view, print or save it as a PDF

Re: CATEGORY SEARCH
This appears to be a relatively new addition to the reports list. I have been hoping for quite sometime now to be able to do something along this line. I will explore this development and see if it will provide me with the link to an invoice that I look for.
Many thanks & Kudos to you and the Mitchell1 team!!!!!!

Not new at all! Been there for as long as I can remember. I've been using the follow up reports for 20 years.ShopManTim wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 2:18 amThis appears to be a relatively new addition to the reports list.
