Re: come back reports
Welcome to the Forums!
The key to using this function is at the order inception. On the Symptom screen, there is a checkbox that triggers the comeback. Additionally, there is a spot for the original order number. You must get this on the order before you post it. Then the report will show your comebacks correctly.
The issue I have is that's all you get. You don't know why the comeback occured or who to attribute it to. Nor do you know how much it cost you, and once posted F12 analysis no longer works. You can type this into the work description, but sometimes you don't want the customer to see this.
One solution is to create a note with all the pertinient information you want. Just set it to NOT print. It will always show up in history. We use codes to indicate the particulars of a comeback. Either way works and the customer stays insulated from our internal information.
Another way to categorize comebacks is to use the Order source field or Reason For Visit. You can add categories here to your hearts desire. We use both, so little slips through the cracks.

Re: Comeback Reports
We did not notice that the comeback part was in the symptom. Now that we see it, we are going to try to use it. But sometimes when the vehicle gets typed into the system we do not know or remember it is a comeback... then the tech notices that it is or when the vehicle is dropped off the customer mentions something... anyway.. once the symptom is typed up you can not go back & put that it is a comeback... we wish there was a way to edit that after the fact. I know you mentioned the stuff on the order page... but we use that for other things.
By the way... we always have had issues with editing the symptoms if the customer adds or deleted what we are going to do to the vehicle... which is also frustrating..

Copy & paste your text from Symptom, delete it, re-apply Symptom with Comeback flag this time.

Re: Comeback Reports
Right. Just make a new symptom with the appropriate comeback data, then move your original verbage over to the new lines and delete the unneeded line. That's the way we do it when we don't know it's a comeback right away.
You should be able to edit symptoms after they are on the order without trouble. Doubleclick on the labor item then on the Symptom button at the bottom of the labor item window.
