Got it, thanks for quick response!

Any tips from the group how you are able to get your techs to clock in and out for each labor line to help make the reporting more accurate?

For us, we make it easy for them to abide by our rules. First, we use a daily time card that is peel and stick. We use Great American tickets http://www.gabpauto.com/Technician-s-Da ... ags/BFA126 We have samples of how we want the tech sheets filled out and follow through when they don't do it right. Second, put your time clock in an easily accessible spot. The less walking the better. Put two clocks if the shop layout calls for it. Anything to make it easy for them.

Then it's up to training. We've been punching in and out of each operation for two decades here. After a few months, it becomes second nature,

Good stuff!

Do you have a time clock that you like?

Also, how do you add job codes in Mitchell to track the different labor lines that they tech may be working on for one car?

Thanks again!

I would recommend a time clock that is auto-punching; just slide your ticket in. Also, minute increments of 100ths is what we use; 0825 is quarter after 8. Easier to do the math when times are a decimal of an hour. We are using an Acroprint. The thing is tough as nails.

On the tech worksheet, the tech attaches his strip and a brief description of what was done. On the strip we place one word that corresponds to the labor op along with the RO number and calculated time. We also use those to track non-productive labor. Those strips go to another sheet we've designed.

The SA is tasked with inputting the times to the corresponding labors.

HTH,

Here is a pic of how the strips are applied. The left column we create is for parts not already on the TW.
