Low inventory by Category

Post by JeromeKoehn »

Is there a way to get a report for low inventory by category, don't want to use by vendor or part #. If not I think this would be "VERY HELPFUL" What do you fellow users think?

Can you explain how this would be helpful in your case? What are your processes that make this desirable?

I usually group my parts by type and sort by number.

We have over $150,000 of inventory, 42 different categories, we buy from many different vendors. We have a min/max for inventory can't sped the time to look at every item to check if we need to re-order, so right now run a low inventory report by vendor. Not all things are bought from one vendor, we shop around. Example Filters I just want to see Filters, 90% are bought from NAPA but we use other vendors for are Semis, so to get this I need to run 2-3 different "Low Inventory By Vendor Reports" and then I get everything from the 2-3 vendors, just gets to be a lot of paper. Just a side note we are not 100% done with are min/max numbers for inventory. Hopefully this helps explain why we could use this report

I think I'm getting it. One more question: If you're not checking each items count before ordering, what are the reports used for? Are you using an electronic catalog(s)?

Sorry for so many questions, but often there is a current method in Manager not yet exploited.

That looks good, but I only need to pick 1 category at a time, I don't need all the categories to print out

I did not finish that report, I haven't been able to print just 1 category so I shelved it.

Exit Manager SE, run this on the HOST first, then run it on each workstation. http://www.m1faqs.com/fix/SE/LowInvCat.exe When complete, you will find a new report under the Inventory tab named "Low Inventory by Category". I structured the report so you easily select a specific category and print just those pages (print to screen first to do this.)
