Batch Payments

I have had this happen a few times now. I am applying a cheque payment in the Batch Payments. The cheque amount is the exact amount owing, but when I apply the payment a box pops up saying " apply excess amount to customer 0.00" or something very close to that, even thought there isn't a balance left. I have to say yes or it will not apply the cheque. It doesn't happen every time and it isn't a big problem, just wondered if there is a fix for it

There is something in Manager causes some balance due amounts to be fractional pennies ($0.001 for example). We have a development task to find out why it is doing that and fix it for our Q2 release .

Ok, crazy question maybe, but just why does it calculate like 0.001? I have yet to charge a customer $129.994.

Actually the only i have EVER seen anything like it is at a gas station where they say gas is $3.299. I have yet to be able to stop a gas pump with the .009 showing. So if a customer owes us $100.00 and pays us $100.00 how can it be 0.001 off?

There is evidently a calculation we missed when we standardized all the rounding within Manager. The rounding results in numbers with several decimal places, thus it is greater than 0, but less than a penny. We have a fix in the works for this to be included in the Q2,

Well, it does appear that i did, and I am actually that brilliant, but no. But I am not brave enough to do that to "The Man', He and others like Tim could make my life hell. <- In case that gets edited lol

I have often wondered this. Had seen it in the past, how a computer rounds and it comes out wrong. I guess if we entered a part for $1.999 and some other stuff as $2.016, but we only "see" them as $2.00 and $2.02, i could understand the rounding issue. However, to my knowledge no one uses M1 for factory or multi-part bidding. So I have always been baffled by this. To me $2.00+$2.02 is very simple, $4.02. So how can the system have a rounding error, unless it just makes up the "0.00#"

It can occur when you have taxes. Consider an order that totals 55.23. There is a tax of 3.21%. The tax calculation goes 6 places after the decimal.

Consider simple labor. 2.34 hours times 83.23/hour. That equals 194.7582. This is going on in the background all the time but we don't see it.

The answer to that last one is simple, shoot the guy who set the labor rate at 83.23 per hour, then beat the SR that didn't bump that labor up to 2.4 or 2.5.

Who has tax of 3.21% for sales tax? I know we do for Payroll tax, but that isnt a M! issue.
