Possible To Search Notes? Warranty Question

Post by rhillig »

Is it possible to search the notes on work orders when they are completed?

When we have a warranty - we always put Oreilly Warranty - AutoValue Warranty - etc in the notes field. I am finding myself having to go back over the last year to find all the Oreilly warranty claims we sent in.....

On that same note - how do you keep track of warranties sent to parts houses??

Currently, you cannot search Note items. We are looking into expanding the History search into more fields than it does now.

Thanks - that would be great to be able to search the notes field!

I did find possibly one way to find them - we discount the parts/labor - so I am doing a discount summary report. I have to look at each one, but easier than going & digging thru the paper counterparts.

I was thinking I could set up a discount for each parts house - but it looks like you would have to have a set price for each discount. I will keep thinking of different ways to track them. (We found out our parts house had not submitted warranty labor claims for almost the whole last year :( )

If a part number or description provides a clue, I'd recommend the Part Number Search report under the Management tab.

How about making a fake part number? LCOAP - labor claim O'Reilly Auto Parts. Make the price zero.

you could run a Part Number Search for that "part number" and find it that way. This report can be searched by a date range also.

One way of handling this problem would be to put the parts supplier in the part description. For example:

Water Pump - O'Reilly Warranty
Larry Jackson
Greg's Too Car Care
Fort Smith, AR
