Tech Worksheet has wrong decimal places and is rounding

Post by rfmjohn »

Hi there! We have a shop that has been using Manager SE for years and it has been working well. Recently, we had to replace a dying PC with a new one, so we had to reinstall the software. We've got everything working great again except for one odd thing: on the Tech Worksheet, for the "Charged Hours" column under Labor as well as the "Qty" column under Parts, the numbers are all just a single digit with no decimal places instead of the normal x.xx numbers.

So, for example, on all of the other PCs, when they print a Tech Worksheet, it will look something like this:

Code: Select all

Parts:
K123456 Sway Bar Link Or Kit 1.00
K234567 Blah Blah Liquid 1.75

Labor:
STABILIZER BAR CONTROL LINK - Remote & Replace - Both Sides 0.60
4 Wheel Alignment 2.00

                                        Total Hours Charged: 2.60
But on this one newly installed PC, the same exact report will look like this:

Code: Select all

Parts:
K123456 Sway Bar Link Or Kit 1
K234567 Blah Blah Liquid 2

Labor:
STABILIZER BAR CONTROL LINK - Remote & Replace - Both Sides 1
4 Wheel Alignment 2

                                        Total Hours Charged: 3
All are printing to the same Brother printer. All are running Windows 10. All are running the latest Manager SE. I've double-checked that the same report is selected in the settings.

I assume it is some weird Crystal Reports engine issue. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hello rfmjohn and welcome to the Forum,

Traditionally when a report prints this way with rounding to no decimal places it has to with the formatting within Windows. As these settings are a little strange to walk through please feel free to give Tech Support a call and let them know you're having an issue with rounding when printing. We can get this corrected for you fairly quickly.

Ok, so, I solved my own problem -- and only because I vaguely remember this happening with an app that I wrote 15+ years ago that used Crystal Reports.

For some reason, Crystal Reports sometimes gets confused about the Windows Region settings. I went and looked on this machine and Region was set to "Recommended: United States" -- just as it should be. I changed it to "UK" and then immediately back to "United States" -- and now everything prints properly.

So, problem solved. Thought that I'd leave the thread here in case someone comes across this issue in the future. Thanks.

I was assuming it was something to do with the region settings, that's normally where issues can arise within some reports.

Yeah, it's been a bug in Crystal Reports for at least 15 years. I had a vague memory of it happening and then finally figured out -- then came back to post about it and we happened to post at the same time. :)

Thanks.

Love the blah blah liquid
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
