Reporting Security

Post by integrity1 »

I've been in the program security function, and can't seem to find where I should uncheck in order to require a password to print reports. I've read that it is an "all or nothing" situation, which is fine with me, but even with all areas checked for security, no password is needed to run a report...

We only have one user account setup.

First thing you do is set the protected area. Click on Change Protected Areas. Select the 2 Report options as protected. Click Done to close that window. Now in the open window you have the users. Now select a password if not done. If you don't want that user to have access to reports, do not check the reports boxes below while the user is highlighted. If you do, check them and they'll need that password to access.

Edit: And welcome to the forum!!!!!

The two in the list that start with 'Report'.

The areas to check as protected are in alphabetical order. My list goes from "Purge Estimates" to "Returns" to "Set Start Invoice # - OK" None of the options start with "Reports"

WIP screen off --> Configurations --> Program Security
Only one user exists [MAIN]
List does not have any options that begin with "Reports"

What am I looking at incorrectly?

Probably nothing. My reference is v5.9. I don't have 6.4 yet so we'll need someone with 6.4 to chime in. My guess is that the selection has been renamed.

That sounds like you do not have the full list open, just some selected items. Click on Change Protected Areas button to see 120+ entries including the ones you already saw.

SE & 5.9 are 99% same in this regard.

Yep. Thanks for helping me find that, guys! I guess if you don't know, you just don't know, huh? Any word on when we'll be able to password protect specific reports, or categories of reports?

That will likely occur when we switch to a security scheme where the screens and options within are determined by user profiles we don't have today.
