Inventory Over/Short Reporting

Post by hokiejill »

Can you see if programming will program a report so that we can see what the value of the inventory over/short is in a given month? Currently, the only report of which I'm aware is "Manual Quantity Update by Part No." I would like to see a report that shows the following:

Part # Part Description Quantity Change (a) Weighted Average Cost (b) Extended Cost of Change (a * b)

Rather than wait, you can probably make this (and more) yourself by using the Export to Excel process described here: http://www.mitchell1.com/knowledgebase/ ... php?id=252

I did the export years ago but the process has changed. I am having problems with the Server field on step #4. I know what the PC Name but what is our Database Name? (FYI---We have Manager Plus--are these instructions applicable to this program too?)

I saw your post in the Manager SE section so I assumed that was what you had. Below is what you need for the manager Plus 5.9:

The username / password included have been the same for quite a while now.

Are you selecting MMS Series II SU* ? [Series II is old name for Manager Plus]

If you are indeed Support confirms a condition called a 3031 error which would prevent database access until it was cleared. Confirming remedies now.

Thank you for checking.

We are in the process of year end inventory and having access to this data would be really helpful.

Support says if you are not able to access database, it is likely a 3031 error. There is a fix for this:

1. Go here: http://www.m1faqs.com/fix/index.htm
2. Browse down to item #17 Setup3031
Mitchell 1 management system database utility. The utility makes a copy of your database, fixes 3031 errors and compresses the database. The file linked on the right will automatically install the utility.

Contact tech support if that doesn't make sense, but it should be pretty simple to clear up database access issue.

We are now able to log in but are getting an error when trying to add certain tables -- Can't access table C:\Mitchell\Manager\Series2\mdb\SMCore32.Inventory.

Also, is there a listing of all the tables and how they are linked somewhere?

From support:

#1, the password is read-only. They cannot add tables. If they mean they cannot open the table in Excel, that’s possible depending on the version. We see that sometimes if trying to use certain versions of Access with 5.9 databases.

#2 No database diagram.

I need access to read the following Manager + tables:

Parts List
Inventory

I'm trying to gain access to read the master inventory information so that I can pull in certain information (for example, inventory part cost, weighted average cost). There may be a few more tables that it is not letting me access, but I would like to be able to read all tables

Do you have access to a different version of Excel?

There is nothing we can change about tables access or permissions.

Do you know what version of Excel is required to work with this?

The Knowledgebase article contained two sets of instructions; one for Excel 2000/2002 and the other is Excel 2007. If you go newer than that it will be a different process in terms of selecting the data source. (As I recall it's easier, but less obvious because of a changed menu structure in Excel 2010 etc.)

My suggestion would be to discuss this with an Excel geek or try it on another PC before changing versions. Something is goofy that we cannot tell from here what to do precisely.
