Mileage For Trailers?

Post by rhillig »

We work on trailers as well as vehicles. Just tried to print out a slip with the 7.5 version & we were unable to do zero miles. Without totally shutting off the mileage requirements - is there a way around it? If you try to continue to print when the pop up comes up - it won't continue.

If you don't want to shut off the mileage requirements, just enter a number. It doesn't really matter since it's a trailer.

The service writer just had a car that he was throwing wiper blades on & didn't want to have to put the miles in - so we are out of luck for that too? We used to be able to bypass it.

If you want to bypass it on occasion, then turn it off. We get the mileage no matter how small a job, even wiper blades.

From the change list: INV/RO Validations will now reevaluate in/out mileage when either field is changed, Mileage fields must be correct to continue to print

The only time I do not get mileage is a boat, trailer or if the odometer does not work.

We haven't run into anything that doesn't have mileage, yet. We'll likely formulate a strategy as we want the enforcement. Maybe a 1 for the first visit and 2, 3 for any subsequent visits. I'd rather do that than have a bunch of missing or inaccurate mileages.

Good idea - I think we can implement that! That's why sometime you need to talk it around with other people!

On vehicles we can't milage off (Chevys) we enter 888888, this way we know that we did attempt to get them, and that the odo is inop. I do like Rics idea, keeps it simple.

With trailers I put 1 for the first invoice and every subsequent invoice I will go up by one digit.

I had to change the odometer when trying to print an invoice from history for proof of purchase for a warranty, I can understand prompting the odometer for current invoices but not previous invoices.

We ran into this when we first started using SE.. what we ended up doing was starting with entering a value of 1 in the mileage field for the first time that trailer was in. Next time it's in for service that trailer will get a number 2, etc.
So instead of mileage, it's tracking the number of visits to the shop. The Tech doesn't need to record anything and its easy for the Service Writers to complete the order. They just increase that number by one digit to post the order without having to disable the enforce mileage in feature.
