Excluding Customer From Text Messages

Post by oxfordauto »

Is there a way to exclude a customer from receiving texts without waiting for them to get the text and respond with STOP?

Go to the customer tab, just to the right of the telephone lines find "SMS allowed" click it, it will change and you will not be able to send them any.

Thank you for responding. Is that option only available if using Mitchell CRM?

I am not 100% sure which package you need for texting, it may be a stand alone feature, we do have CRM

Appears you need to have "messagecenter"

Yes. Hi just learned it was a feature that anyone could use but Mitchell took that away, I assume in an effort to gently force one to use their products. I knew I had unchecked the green box in the past, but can’t now. I really wish they would relay that type of change instead of hanging some out to dry. Very frustrating to have to recreate the wheel again. Thanks again for your help.

Hold on.

I don't know what you heard but that's wrong.
There was no SMS icon on the Customer screen before MessageCenter. Bolt On's Message Pro still works as would any other texting solution because they are all operate OUTSIDE the Manager SE program.

I think I’m misunderstanding here. I thought we had the ability to either uncheck the green SMS or check exclude from CRM at one point in time and one of those setting would transfer to something like Mechanic Advisor.

In other words, if I had a customer that asked us not to text them, how would I go about honoring that request?

Okay that's different; if a customer has Manager SE and SocialCRM, there is a checkbox for Include in CRM (or not). That's either email or texts from SocialCRM. We built that for us; we can't anticipate what other CRM companies do. Since other CRM providers are not truly integrated with us, I doubt they've figured out how to tap that setting.

Those CRM texts / emails are one direction marketing out to customers; MessageCenter is 2-way texting in Manager SE to discuss specific current work in the shop back and forth.

Therefore, it would be necessary to contact the CRM provider in question to stop the messages to your customer.
