UNASSIGNED Labor?

Post by stevesteeb »

I switched from 5.x to 6.x a few months ago and noticed last month-end I had a lot of Revenue in my UNASSIGNED category on my Revenue by GL Code Report. I think I've figured-out that when I switched, part of the switch was I went from Estimator in my computer to Estimator on-line. I think when it moves LABOR from Estimator on-line it leaves it UNASSIGNED.

If I'm correct in this theory - Is there a way to tell it to assign this correctly or am I going to have to manually assign LABOR every time?

Thanks, steve

If I'm not mistaken I believe you have to go back into your set up preference and reset them. I think I remember when I switch over that got changed on mine to. I haven't had a problem since.

I went into SETTINGS and LABOR (no tax) is still in there as a valid setting. I also noticed that if I open a LABOR tab and type in a job it is also UNASSIGNED. The only things that go to LABOR are my old canned jobs...

OMG! I thought i was causing the problem somewhere, because I too have that problem now and then, i found it in the canned jobs! I also found it when I transfer labor directly from the cataloging to a work order it somehow gets jumbled around and drives me ** CRRRAAAZZYY** when I run these reports!!!

I had a problem with the setting sticking where I put them and was told by support that it was an odd problem but to try to do the setting changes on my server once all other workstation were shut down at the end of the day and see what happens. It solved most of it but one or two setting but I never tried again because I was too busy and eventually just forgot. Try it that way and see if it works.

This is in your settings, let's review. All of your Labor is non-taxable?

When you access Setup - Standard Tables, Account Classes tab, please confirm what is selected in BOTH Labor (Taxable) and Labor (Non-Tax) fields. I believe this is where the issue lies since a simple Labor item creation comes up as unassigned.

BINGO! I didn't have anything set for Taxable Labor (we don't have any such animal in Michigan so I left it alone) and I have now set it for NON-TAXABLE LABOR and everything seems to be working like it used to. THANKS!!!

Our computer recently died and we had to get a new one. lucky we had backed up our database and still had all the R.O's and customer info and all that . But some of the settings, such as labor non-tax was not working as it was. For some reason OEM parts & labor and also any discounts were showing unassigned and we would have to switch it to non-tax labor manually. After reading this i realized that the account classes for non-tax labor and taxed parts were ok but the labor tax was set to <none>, but if you switch that to Labor non-tax as well, it works great now! thanks!
