Inventory Records - Not Stocking?

My question is about inventory. I have some inventory items that we stock but if I order a water pump and have no intention to keep it in inventory, should I still click the inventory button to save the information?

At this shop we do NOT add to inventory. Unless, the part is actually going to be stocked. I am sure others will chime in. There may be good reasons to add to inventory, as in sales tracking, but we try to keep it simple.
