Parts ordering with QOH

Post by BedfordAutoClinic »

Good morning as we become more familiar with how this system handles inventory ( we are used to R&R ) from the dealer side of things.
We have a QOH of part X= 46
Part X is added to a canned job ( front brake job ) and that canned job added to an RO
Part X we have on hand - Brake pads we do not so it is necessary to order the parts

When we hit parts order button to order said parts, both come up - Now the system knows we have Part X in stock and quantities available to handle the job so it marks this in green but still tags part to order?

Small but extra step none the less we have to untag Part X so it will not order, am I missing something here if the system knows we have QOH and is capable of marking it green to alert me I assume, then why not just default to untag? if I want to order it I will tag it back, but most of the time I would say a lot of the time, if you have it in stock you are not gonna order it at this time, you will order when you do your daily stock order at night or in the morning?

Please advise

Just a technical question, you state "part X - 46" is the "-" to indicate just a space or do you mean a negative on hand? if its a negative on hand it will want to order, as you don't have the part....

Yes that was intended as a space but I can see where that would be confusing to negative on hand quantity.

I realize if the QOH is negative then yes it would want to order but that is not that case we have 46 On Hand.

Thanks for clarification

Need to know specifically which parts catalog you are seeing this happen with. Also confirm the bullet selector is pointing to Show parts needed to complete this order and *not* Show all parts. (have to ask)

If you've ordered this part in the past, the inventory record should include a line code. Do you know if the line code is the same as the part # in the catalog you are ordering from?

I hope this screenshot works and is what you are looking for, its CARQUEST ordering?

I have the selection parts needed to complete the job.

The Brake Clean is marked in green which I think means it shows we have quantity on hand we have 46
The brake pads we do not and have to order them. It would be nice if the parts we have quantity on hand would not be automatically tagged to order

Need to compare notes here, looks like it simply should not be tagging the item you have ample QOH for. Stay tuned

I should have mentioned as well that the part in this example being (part x) or the part in the screen shot W7341 is attached to the canned job for front brakes!

So when the canned job is added the only thing we need to do is look up brake pads transfer it over to the line and then order the parts as necessary!

Not sure if that helps or not but thought I should mention it, it was early this morning lol and I just reread what I typed.

Thanks and I will be waiting to hear from you.
