Inventory parts showing stock when sold

Post by mopar-mechanic »

When we are invoicing orders and waiting to post work order until payment our parts still show in inventory.(some invoices can sit for days or weeks depending on the situation) It would be great that once converted to invoice these parts are pulled from inventory since they are committed on that invoice.

That is the anticipated behavior; when the RO is converted to INV, that is the moment inventory parts are subtracted from inventory and Committed fields falls to zero.

The only thing that would prevent that (not subtracting) is if the item in question is a pass through part (not your actual inventory item but looks very close to it), someone unchecked the 'Inventory' checkbox in the Part Item Edit window and/or changed the description or some other attribute of the part so that it was no longer identical to your inventory part record.

EST part = no status
RO part = Committed (if marked approved & printed)
INV part = Confirmed (subtract from inventory if stocked)

I've now played with this a bit, since we were not printing the RO on approval and using the tablet to message our techs with the revised work order this was not committing parts, even when converted from a revision (new request) I will monitor the invoice conversion in the same manor, since we do some large projects over months at a time this might be handy if we are converting the work order and ensuring the parts are removed from inventory on a daily bases and committing those parts from inventory. A committed part quantity icon in the part item description would be handy(another request)
We have had some issues with our bulk inventory being out in large quantity and really trying to get a handle on why. This does help and I will post my results. Thanks timbre4

Good. If you haven't already done so you can mark ROs as Approved/Printed with this setting:

Added a 'Committed' indication is not necessary because this already confers that status. ;)
