Auto load supplier?

Post by Rich »

We have the ability to electronically order parts from 4 places. I am wondering has it ever been brought up that the "vender" automatically be loaded to the part? This way if I look up the parts on Monday, and sell the job on Friday I can open the part and see who I looked up the part from. I have 3 venders that sell Moog, they all use MOO as line code. Some of the line codes make it so I can tell who, other I can't. I was just wondering if it was a thought about programming in the future.

thanks

Me too!

Right now I have to go into each part one at a time and manually enter each vendor. On a big job that represents a significant amount of time. My service advisor sometimes forgets, leaving me to guess where to buy from on approval.

I would think that it would be intuitive to load the vendor from the last price check in cases where 2 or more may use the same line code.

I totally agree with this. My service manger never fills in where the parts are coming from. I always have to ask him where, interrupting him. This would make my life so much easier. We could order the parts quicker! Quicker is better!

The history aspect doesn't bother me. None of my venders use the same type of part invoice number. IE.

Carquest - 4743-12345
Auto value 273-12345
Advance 552121521454521452145
Napa 123456

We have a lot of problems when our Vendors use the same part numbers...ie.. wheel bearing, shocks & struts, exhaust, etc. A auto load vendor would be so helpful so we do not get the part from the wrong place with the wrong price. Thanks

When an electronic parts order is placed, the Vendor field for each of the ordered parts is auto-filled.

What am I missing here? (said the man who skimmed this thread)

It is when we look up the part to price the job. It would be nice to know where we pulled the part from. So we know where to order it from.
