Carquest Weblink ll - Not Leaf Catagory

Post by C-A-R-S »

When using Carquest Weblink ll within Mitchell 1, when selecting exterior lights, get an error Not Leaf Catagory, Carquest says this is M1 problem.
Any information on this.

When I select the old A- ink in M1, I can still access exterior lights.
Thank you

Have you tried going into Weblink from a web browser instead of from Manager? Same results? Whats the vehicle info?

There's no good way to point out this is a Carquest problem so I'll let you read some of what we have recorded for this issue in 2011:

Title Carquest Catalog Error: "An error was detected from the catalog. Not Leaf Category"
Assigned To *** *****
Issue Status In Replication
Priority (1) High
Description When accessing the Carquest Catalog from Manager SE 6.4x and selecting a "Sub Category" with a "*NEW* or **New** in the beginningor the end of the sub category. After clicking "Display Parts" an error pops up back into the Order screen saying, "An error was detected from the catalog. Not Leaf Category."

Example:
1. In Manager SE, pick any YMM and click on Carquest.
2. Select catergory "Electrical"
3. Select Sub Category *NEW* Connectors, Harnesses, Sockets
4. Click on Display Parts
5. Program goes back into the Order Screen with the error message "An error was detected from the catalog. Not Leaf Category."
See Attached Screenshots.

Carquest continues to use a taxonomy system for certain categories (the example is one of them) that they know causes exceptions/crashes in our Catalog. It may sound more familiar as the "Not Leaf category" error. Since 5.9 has no way to handle the exception, it just crashes instead.

WORKAROUND: "It's not perfect but here's a work around that my customers have been using. Instead of Category lookup, use keyword lookup for the item and it's been working OK that way."

Thanks for the W.A. Tim. We have had this issue for quite awhile. Just in light bulbs. We kindly tell the local CarQuest its no problem, we can find other suppliers for bulbs. :D
