1Search Default

Post by INLANDSMOG »

Is there a setting to stop 1Search from being the default? The old way for us is much better.

Thanks for the initial feedback on the recent ProDemand changes.

We'd appreciate your input to confirm the following:
1. Is everyone aware that the ProDemand module list (former landing spot) is still one click away?
2. Why would you not like to start with 1 Search?

It might just be me but I liked the old way. I tried to find what I wanted a few times in 1 Search but still wound up going to Vehicle Reference.

Hi Tim,

Even though the module list is only one click away - it's still one click away.

Numerous times the tech's have tried to find torque specs or firing orders, for example & did not come up with anything that they could use.

Our techs are unhappy with the new 1search function. In many ways they felt they could find information better in the original Shopkey5.com

Generally speaking I'm not much of a complainer. My techs are not liking ProDemand at all. They will use it but definitely search google more as well as identifix. They were very happy with the old OnDemand5. Now I realize things have to change and progress but sometimes in an attempt to make things better we lose sight of the simple things. I never thought I would say this but I'm actually contemplating getting rid of the ProDemand feature in favor of Identifix. I feel like I'm wasting my money if they won't use it. I feel bad about this but I felt I needed to say something.

I have had the same thoughts. I always use ProDemand first because it's 1 click away in manager but I struggle finding things in it at times. I then use Identifix and find it easily. Identifix has definitely stepped the game up and it's sad that although Mitchell is trying they seem to go backwards with things at times.

As for the topic of this post I'd find it more handy to open in the common specs and procedures as default. I might be the minority on that though.

I agree with the other posters. I still have a hard time with 1search. Not getting to the information I need fast enough.

Mitchell, are you listening? We have subscriptions to both Identifix and Alldata, as well as ShopkeyPro. Why has the industry "flagship" become the most difficult to find information in? The idea that a technician needs a google-like interface instead of category menus to find information does not make sense to us. We are willing to talk to anyone who will listen. Martins Auto, Anna, IL 62906 618-833-2528.

This is not an empty rant. We have subscribed to the repair, estimator, and management programs continuously for 14 years. But we have to see the value in the repair information access to keep moving forward.

Over the last few weeks I have gotten used to using 1search. I just type what I want into search and pick from the list. Tabs across light up and I pick from there. Just looked up procedure for door latch on 2008 Sebring Conv. and found it in 3-4 clicks. Not any worse than hunting thru Body-interior trim-door panel R&R-latch removal in my opinion. Just took some practice and gettin used to I guess.

I would like to update this message board, that our shop did receive a call from someone at Mitchell 1 who gave us an overview of the way the system is designed to work. When our technicians understood how the tabs view works when you search a component it made a lot more sense. So maybe part of this is needing to get used to it. I would encourage us all to watch the video tutorials as that could help clear up any misinformation here.

Not saying everything has been done the way we would like to see it, but it does make more sense now and I do appreciate Mitchell reaching out to us.
