First Mile Debit Cards COVID-19

Post by scarruther1 »

When a customer uses a debit card and enters a PIN, why does it also ask for a signature using the pen? I use my debit card everywhere and when I enter a PIN, they never ask for a signature too?

Customers find it annoying, especially today when things need to be as touchless as possible.

Do I need a new machine setup, or is there a box I'm not checking? Mitchell and FirstMile keep punting this to each other.

+1 on this. Signatures should not be required for these transactions.

I understand. I hated entering my phone number at Walgreens and 7-11 on a shared pad like that -- and that was before COVID.

I also wanted to make it clear that it is not Mitchell's decision in regards to any payment processor to determine the rules of when signatures/PINs, or when any financial transaction identifier is required to be entered. If I had to guess, there's probably certain banks or regulations that aren't completely up-to-date.

The 1stMile team tends to work as quickly as possible to try to respond to pressing needs like this.

We'll reach out to them and see if we can get an update.

Any updates on this? Customers STILL have to sign the ISC250 terminal after entering a debit card pin. We're trying to be as touch-free and caring to customers. Surely the Chip and PIN # is the security? Why are we making people sign?

I have reached out to First Mile, but this is a black hole. Can Mitchell help with this? Pls. :-)

How can I get signature capture on non credit or debit card payments, like check or cash?

Hi there FoundingFathers and welcome to the forum. Currently electronic signatures are only taken via Debit or Credit card purchases that are run through a payment processor.

Thanks very much. Is there a device that works with Mitchell to capture signatures on RO's. All of the warranty companies require a signature and scanning in is another step.

Mobile Manager Pro can capture signatures on orders in Manager.
