1stMile Refunds

We are using Manager version 7.3.8 and just installed the 1stMile software. When we first installed the 1stMile software I could swear I could do a refund by putting in negative numbers and then using the electronic payment option. Now when I try to do that it says I can't record a negative transaction. How can we process a refund with 1stMile?
