Is there a way to securely store credit card information in ShopManager?

We don't use any software connected to Mitchell1. We used a stand-alone POS machine from Heartland. Customer's frequently ask us to use the CC on file, sort of like paying over the phone but we have their card number. Would be nice to be able to have it saved securely within ShopManagement.

It would be helpful to have the card type, last 4, and expiration displayed then when you hit a button to display it it prompts for a password to show the remainder.

Currently this is an option with our FirstMile and Global Payments payment processors. Since storing RAW credit card numbers can be a little dangerous we have worked with both of our payment processors to make sure things are secure while still allowing to store the credit cards in the background.

Just so I understand, if we're not using credit card processing there's no way to securely save credit card info? If that's correct, can I use...let's 1st Mile for storing the credit card info w/o using 1st Mile CC processing?

Correct the only way would be to use 1st Mile or Global Payments. In order for the card to be stored for use you will have to use the payment processor to take the payment. There is no way to securely store a Credit Card number within Shop Manager without using either of those payment processors.

The reason that one of those payment processors has to be used is due to the feature to keep the credit card number secure. When taking the payment through one of those payment processor you are able to save a token for each card. This is a link between your shop, payment process, customer in Shop Manager and the credit card which will allow a payment to go through without the card present.

Since we want to have credit card numbers as secure as possible the best way to keep them secure is to have a token created with the payment processor instead of storing the 16 digit card number.
