2003 Chev Cavalier 2.2L PCV?

Post by dunlapautomotive »

Cannot find info on where PCV is located on engine. I have a 2.2 using oil and is going into air cleaner tube through crankcase vent hose. It looks to me like I have no vacuum through PCV valve. Any help would be great, Thanks

I can't find one. I have an ex-gm dealer tech and he thinks it might be built into the valve cover. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Looked up part by application and there isn't one. Just a quickie here, is there any crapolla on the inside of the oil cap or tube? I've seen these engines sludge up a lot. With oil cap off and engine running is there a slight vac pull? As a rule i place may hand over the oil fill port and see if there is a slight suction on my hand. If there is then the engine is breathing properly, if my hand feels like it's being pushed away then there is a breathing issue or a ring issue.

On old trick to feeling this very slight vaccum was to put a 8x11 inch piece of paper over the oil cap hole and if it sucks it down then your pcv is working well. if it blows it away look for problem. I have never seen a pcv valve with this engine. I believe it is all part of the valve cover assembly as stated earlier.

...

Go to figure 338 of engine mechanical. It shows cleaning the crankcase ventilation passages in the intake manifold. I'm thinking it must be a metered air bleed built into the manifold.

Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a piece of chalk, cut it with an axe. Sand it to fit.
