Volvo Timing Belt Interval: 105K or 120K?

Post by greatlakesautoclinic »

I have noticed a difference in the suggested maitenance interval on a 2004 volvo S60 timing belt replacement from the 30/60/90 guide versus OEM. Mitchell states 120,000 miles, OE states 105,000 miles (all other searched resources agree with OEM interval).

Thaks,
Tim

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your question. [moved to repair/est/maint section]

I've made an inquiry with maintenance editorial dept and will post the reply as soon as I get that.

Here is the reply to clarify this question:

"According to the 2004 Volvo Maintenance Service Operations booklet, the replacement for the timing belt on a S60 model is at 120,000 miles, except for vehicles identified by VIN code 64 sold in California, Massachusetts, Vermont, New York and Maine are classified as PZEV vehicles. Replacement for these vehicles only is 150,000 miles or 180 months. Replacement at 105,000 miles is for C70, S40, V40 and S80 6 cylinder models."
