Text to Pay

Post by ricmorin »

I have been trying to get in touch with the sales department but cannot get through to a human. I would like some more information on Text to Pay. For those unfamiliar, this is a service where your customers can pay their invoice electronically with a text. This would be a hit with customers picking up after hours or parents paying for their kids cars; and much more.

I'm getting no response from official channels. JB, can you shed some light?

Sorry. Been on the road.

We are working with the different companies that process credit cards, trying to get as many on board as possible.
It is going rather slowly though.
The software, for the most part is working, but waiting on the negotiations to be completed.

When I know more, I'll pass it along.

Would be ideal to integrate our current payment processor into this.

So Text to Pay is out. We are signed up and awaiting our equipment.

Text to Pay appears to utilize Bolt On's Quick Charge Pro module. The cost is 30 dollars per month, but depending on your current processor you may save that or more on cc fees, as we did. No start up fee. No contract term; just month to month. Hardware is 350.00 and utilizes the PAX S300 terminal. http://www.pax.us/portfolio_page/s300-i ... il-pinpad/

Here are a couple of videos on how it works.

It seems like a lot of steps, but considering all the parties involved I guess it's to be expected.

I would like to hear what your thoughts are once you have used it a while. I like the text to pay idea. What are the CC fees they charge?

The fees depend on your volume. Suffice it to say that with the savings I was able to pay for the service and still save money.

I WILL be posting updates as to the functionality and customer experience.

Here is the actual charge structure for using 360 Payments and Text To Pay.

Standalone TTP:
- $20 per month ($10 for TTP and our normal $10 account on file fee)
- Flat 2.70% all in rate (this includes 360 Payments fee and the interchange fees from the card brands)

TTP and Card Present (full package)
- $20 per month ($10 for TTP and a normal $10 account on file fee)
- $10/mo per terminal
- Guarantee to match or beat any processors rates

Both options are month to month agreements.

Thanks JB, I should have clarified between the two options. Going with the full package got me the service for free and money back from what I was previously paying. I got so excited I forgot about the other option.

I sent myself a test invoice today.

The 'pay' button is prominent in the upper right corner. Enter your card number and expiration....

We are up and running. The installation specialist asked how many computers we wanted set up to the new terminal. We asked that all three office computers be set up (the terminal connects to the network, not the computer). We were elated that we could push purchases to the terminal from all three, until we discovered today it didn't work. Another session with support revealed that you can't do this; the terminal only works from ONE computer. Not sure why the specialist set up three when it only works with one, maybe because we can text from those three and automate the receipt process.

Another thing you can't do is issue a credit from the terminal. Yo can only do that with the Velox online portal. At least you CAN do it.

We are waiting on an answer for payments via Batch. Right now it appears you cannot pay multiple payments with this system. It's one at a time. Hmmm. I hope there is a solution forthcoming.

You can split payments via the terminal (2 cards) but you can't split using Text to Pay.

It will take some time to get used to this after several decades of using a standalone terminal. This addition has made us totally paperless, from start to finish. If a customer wants a paper receipt, they can still have one otherwise we text or email the invoice/payment info.

Ric, do you have any idea yet as to how fast they fund your account?

Any way to edit the message that's sent with the link to pay? It's a little confusing to some who just receive a link to pay with no explanation. THANKS>

Yes. You have the opportunity to edit the text before sending. Just make sure you don't change the link.

I know I can add text to the link page, but can we add a boiler plate message so we don't have to type/copy and paste a message on every TTP message.

THANKS>>MIKE

Ah! I understand your question now. You want to edit the default message with TTP. I don't think we have access to that, yet. I think it would be a good idea to add that feature.
