Oil Change Stickers

Post by nickscarcare »

What kind of printers are people using for printing labels. We currently just handwrite stickers, but would like to have a printer to look more professional. So I am looking for feedback on what has worked good for people and has good access to supplies for them.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

We are using the Dymo 450. It works well and we use it for other labeling as well. Some of the stickers that stay on the cars for a long time do fade, though. Looks much better than a hand written one and I got my logo on there.

How is it to get your logo programed in there, is it a software for on the computer?

You modify the lube sticker template with the Dymo software. I had the Bolt-On support dude help me.

I use the GoDex. My experience is the same as Ric's. Bolt-On helped program a logo for us as well.

Does Bolt on help you with this even if you are not a customer of theirs?

Used dymo. Went to GoDex after seeing stickers fade. I use the Dymo for address labels now, among a few other things.

I promise, you will not regret going with Bolt-on. If you do not see an ROI, you're not using their software correctly.

The hard part for us here is that the old Mitchell 5.9 worked great for everything we needed here as we are a small shop. I understand the point of getting rid of 2 systems so they can just worry about one.
I do manual inventory. I had to switch to the new software. I don't need to be paying for a bunch of this other stuff, like appt reminders, which seem to have lots of issues, we have enough with the phone number issue here that I don't need to add in appt reminders getting messed up also. I have a person that does that during the day. These services are not great for everyone.

You can disable the automatic appointment scheduling feature in the software. Easy as going to settings and unchecking the box

Spoke to someone, I didn't like the fact that I think the guy was at home, heard him speaking with kids? The phone kept cutting in and out, bad reception, sounded like he was driving? I am requesting a demo from Bolt on. Hopefully that one goes better. I am a man of first impressions, my customers decide on me with a first impression, so hopefully the second impression is better here.

Don't let that sway you. I can tell you from personal experience over the last couple years and just coming back from a weekend training session at bolt-On that they are top notch. Every bit as good as Mitchell in any help you would need and very responsive.

Nick's Car Care,
Sorry if your first contact with Bolt On was rough. I know a number of these guys take phone calls on their cell phones when not in the office.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns after your demo.

Thanks

And Thanks to Paul for all his kind input.

I am giving them a shot, I do like the looks of their stuff, what I have seen so far. See what happens after the demo. I am not sure about using the full program though, I don't use the Mitchell schedule now, and I do not like the fact of a computer making appointments for us also. I do have quite a few customers that this will not work for unless we change alot on our end. We have customers who have their kids under their accounts and from my understanding that the appointment sets up through the cell number, with these customers that will not work, because that may be the parents, and we are supposed to contact the kids. We live in a college town, so we have alot that have parents address yet.

The great thing about bolt on is that they don't make you sign contracts. That alone should give you confidence in their product. It's up to them to earn and keep your business. I've been a customer for over 3 years I think.
