Average car cycle time

Post by motley06 »

Is there a report in Report Pro that will tell you the average time a vehicle spends in your shop. What I'm looking for is to see how fast we are getting cars out of our shop from the time of write up. I know there is a vehicle flow report of some sort for individual vehicle events, but I'm looking for a report over a set time frame for all repair orders. Does this exist? If not, what would it take to have this report built?

It does not appear that this report exists. (Anyone out there know different, please let me know.)
In building such a report a number of items are needed such as...
Is the actual time captured in the management system from write up to completion? If not a mechanism needs to be built.
What is the definition of the beginning and end of the visit? Paperwork - actual time in the shop - Other
How do vehicles that are not in the shop get exempt from the report? (Loose wheel repairs for example.)
Just a few questions to begin with.

There are two reports that measure tech time on digital inspections. But that does not give the total picture.

Just the same will see what the possibility of it being built is.

I'd be happy with a time duration from converting to a repair order to posting an invoice.

OK.
Per work order too.
Expect possibly next week. Though the holiday may delay it a bit.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I guess per work order? I'm not really looking for individual tickets, I'm wanting to be able to look at a week or month and know the average time it takes for my team to get cars fixed and out of the shop. Does that sound like we're talking about the same thing?

Sorry for the delayed answer. Been out of the office.

I am confident we are on the same idea.

No worries, thanks for following up. I'm kinda surprised I haven't had more people +1 this idea. Seems like this would be very handy information. I have no clue how it could be done, outside of internally to the shop, but it would be cool to see what the biggest impact on the total duration is. Parts, authorization, inspection, etc. Thanks again for the idea.

This is already captured in the program. When are you in WIP screen, you can select "Details" on a specific Order, and it will show "Time In" and "Completion".

These are the two times you're looking for. "Time In" refers to when the order was converted from an EST>RO and "Completion" is RO>Inv(Printed).

From here, you could probably query ReportPro on those two fields.

Hope this helps!

Yea, you're right, but I don't think those fields are available in query builder... If they were, you're method would work just fine. We could average out the difference to see the info I'm looking for
