GVWR Choices

Post by ricmorin »

I have been noticing that many GVWR choices have been ranges. I'm fine with that and like to use one of the drop-down choices provided, but many times there's more than one correct choice. In the example below, my vehicle was a 7200 GVWR and there are four choices that fall into that category. Which one do I pick? For now I'm just manually entering the number, but curious why it's displayed this way.

Here's the background that tells the story:

"The 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch VIN decodes to a single GVW range: 6250-8000. I did find the following, which probably exemplifies what you’re referring to:

Here is what our 2006 Ford Pickup F150 MVCs – with wheelbase and bed length visible – look like:

You can see that the GVW ranges above are fairly specific to a combination of MVC attributes. Depending on vehicle selection and mappings, there could be overlap in what the end-user sees. But, the GVW ranges aren’t necessarily incorrect. And, more often than not, our editorial data is not qualified to the level of GVW."

Thanks for the explanation. There's a lot going on behind the scenes that we never see or realize.

A lot of times when you are ordering parts you need the correct GVWR I always manually put the correct one in for that reason
