Prevent RO/Estimate automatically creating appointment?

Post by RSpeedInc »

Hi there, at our shop we sell parts and accessories direct to customers and use Mitchell to invoice them. This lets us track what they've bought so that if they come in for service we can know where a part had been sourced from for warranty purposes, and also to know if a self-install went haywire and is causing an issue on their vehicle.

Anywho, whenever one of these orders are created and subsequently posted, it generates an appointment on the schedule and we'd like to stop that from happening as it clutters things up and causes confusion. We're fine with these being on the WIP, but we primarily use the scheduler to plan our day/week and keeping it as streamlined as possible is our goal.

Is this possible or are we stuck with this behavior?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

There are a number of ways to work around the schedule entry - but the absolute simplest based on what you're describing would be to switch those to Counter Sales. That is what those are for - selling a part direct to the customer. It will invoice (pretty much like normal, but customer information is optional) but will not show up on the schedule.

Thanks Silky, that should do fine.

We're kind of in the process of re-learning the entire software to see what processes we can improve upon, but the documentation/tutorials we've found thus far are fairly rudimentary, only really apply initial software setup or are for features we don't make use of. Is there a good collection of more intermediate/power user articles or videos that we could go through (short of trolling the entire forum)?

No worries. Some things just have to be asked because they don't fit into the neat space that is a training video. I'll let Tim chime in on the best assets for you on that - he creates them all.

However, if you can make it, you might have noticed we're doing in workshop in April! Fantastic place to learn tips, tricks and usage - not just from us, but from other shops.

Yes, I was going to offer the workshop (in addition to this forum) as the means to get further along.
Another resource is our Shop Blogs: https://mitchell1.com/shopconnection/ca ... anagement/

Please understand that the primary role of the Manager SE videos is to get new users comfortable with the software. Each clip has the basics covered but also tries to provide all aspects of the screen or feature being covered, while observing reasonable time limits.

It's impossible to anticipate which program areas are going to elicit further questions and that is why we have this forum as the means to address this need. The workshop, even with two full days can't cover everything and we have to thread the needle for 100 people in the room to provide as much as we can.

You are welcome to unspool what you're wondering about here, we are looking in every day unless travel or time off intervenes. The registration info for the April 2025 workshop is in the banner at the top of this browser window.
