The issue is the privacy laws in Canada; we continue to investigate ways to offer texting up there.

MessageCenter texting is a separate product so you're not paying for this.

I find it unusual that add-on programs like Bolt-On, and Service Intelligence can offer texting in Canada through Manager Plus, but Mitchell1 itself can't.

I would imagine it comes down to how much risk as a company are you willing to accept.

As a business I choose to only repair tires with a patch/plug from inside. Sure, there are plenty of other shops that would gladly slide in a rope plug. I am not willing to risk a non-approved repair for a few bucks and if that means losing a few potential customers, then that's ok. It's not that I can't use a rope plug. I choose not to due to the risk. Now if I found a way to minimize that risk, I may change that policy down the road and accept that repair.

As Tim and Ric both alluded to, CASL is trickier to navigate than the legislation that existed in the US at the time texting was first launched. I still don't envy Canadian shops having to obtain express written consent from your customers before texting them.

In any event, I'll check with our legal division to see where they are at with my proposed EULA changes to allow sales in Canada. Once that is approved, we'll be ready to offer the Message Center integration.
