Hello all!
I have a 1989 Corvette convertible 5.7 pushrod motor here. ABS light comes on after you start moving or when you hit a bump. This is the Bosch II system that does not flash out codes, but requires the J-35890 tool that plugs inline with the ABS controller. I found a wiring problem without the special tool by just using my head(and a meter). The connector to the LF sensor on the vehicle side has an internal problem and needs replacement. The connector does not look like it dissassembles without cutting it up. It sort of looks like the BMW brake sensor connector....typical bosch with 2 fat pins. Short of hitting the bone-yard and snipping one out, does anyone know of a source for this?
TIA.

Hmmm. No replies.
Here's a shot of the connector.

If the wires are not shielded and you cannot find one Id consider hard wiring it?

I cut the connector in half (molded). Found a wire inside that was broken. No way to reassemble it as it was before, so I just took the two male pins and pushed them into the WSS end. Weatherproofed and secured as best I could and rechecked......all fixed. At least I know there are no other issues with the ABS. Still looking for a connector. My other option would be to put in a weatherpack or something, but that would involve changing the WSS connector too. Trying not to do that, but........

Just about any time i get the chance to pull a harness or collect connectors i do. If i'm installing a used engine or transmission i will either strip the harness from the original or replacement unit. I don't care what the plug looks like, I will pop the wires out of a main plug that i know i will never use. I have correct gauge leads so i know i have correct resistance. I've yanked main harnesses out of vehicles that are on their way to the great beyond. I'll pick a union out of my collection and use it. The smaller the wire the harder it is but i use a lighter to strip the small ones by burning it off. I slide a piece of shrink wrap onto one lead and twist the wires together, slide the shrink tube over it and seal it. If it's a multiple connection i will also use a big piece of shrink wrap to bind them all together. I will cut a piece long enough to extend a bit beyond the splice and just heat the ends. Shrinking the whole thing may cause one of the individual splices to open. I also have a few rolls of tape that you cut off a piece 1/2 the length you think you need, pull off the backing strip, stretch the tape and wrap the splice. It's a bonding tape that will melt to itself. Stretching it activates a chemical reaction, you can feel it get pretty warm and watch it ooze the sealer like a heat shrink. Way more information than needed.
