We can manually over-ride the BTSI and get the gearshift out of park. When we do this the ignition key can be removed regardless of whether the gearshift is in park, reverse or drive. Park-lock cable seems to be working properly. Can't find any procedures to test further. Any ideas?

lots of problems with the shifter
1. Use a scan tool to check the brake switch status in the Front Control Module (FCM).

2. If OK, check for power on the Dark Green/White wire at pin 21 at the 24-pin connector at the FCM with the brakes applied.

3. If power is present, check it right at the shifter solenoid. The Brake Transmission Shifter Interlock (BTSI) solenoid is integral to the floor shifter.

welcome to the forum. will the steering wheel lock when key is removed while shifter is in a position other than park?. is there a signal at the interlock module when brakes are applied? as a rule most of the interlock issues i have with consoles is a result of "liquid" contamination. I've washed them in the sink, used a blow gun to dry them and ended with a crc electric motor solvent spray.

Recently had 2006 Pacifica with console shift, unable to get out of park. On this one even the override would not work. I has a piece of pink plastic in lower part of shifter assembly that breaks. Had to replace compete shifter assembly.
