2000 Dodge Intrepid - 3.2L Hard Start

THIS CAR'S FUEL PRESSURE DROPS AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW MINUTES. IT WILL START AFTER CRANKING FOR A FEW SECONDS. HAS A NEW FUEL PUMP. NOT SURE IF WE NEED TO LOOK AT INJECTORS, PRESSURE REGULATOR, OR IF WE HAVE A DEFECTIVE PUMP.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Could be regulator or pump. Why was pump replaced?

REPLACED PUMP BECAUSE FUEL PRESSURE WAS DROPPING DIRECTLY AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF.

So it still drops just not as fast? Was it a chrysler pump?

May have to put a tee in the line for your pressure tester so you can pinch off the line going back to the tank so you can tell if it's the fuel pump or injector.

WAS NOT A CHRYSLER PUMP, WAS AIRTEX.
FUEL LINE IS PLASTIC, NOT SURE WE COULD PUT IN A TEE.(??)

PRESSURE DOES STAY AT 25PSI FOR AT LEAST 10 MINS. ONCE IT STARTS IT RUNS FINE UNTIL YOU CUT THE ENGINE OFF AND LEAVE IT AND THEN RESTART LATER.

REGULATOR IS ON TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. BEEN OUR EXPERIENCE THAT A BAD REGULATOR WOULD CAUSE PRESSURE TO BE TOO HIGH.

I see thsi tsb also. 18-09-98B. Also I was mistaken its 25 psi for 25 minutes. Regulator is part of the pump. If you cant pinch of lines then I would be lead to believe it is the pump. I have no experience with airtex.

I would look at that pump. I have had problems with more than one different aftermarket fuel pump. Not going to single any out, yes have seen factory ones bad, but less common. I tell the customer I stand behind the factory pump, if you want a cheaper on, then you get what you pay for, and I will only back them up what the manufacturer does. Quality is an issue with many parts now days. Good luck!
