2005 Dodge Neon - Camshaft Sensor Code

Post by Princeton Auto »

I thought for sure there would have been a post about this.

2005 Neon with the Camshaft Sensor code present. The customer has replaced the camshaft sensor twice in the last 25K miles. (different shop) I see these failures regularly but not this consistant. Has anyone found a good reason for the failures or is it the poor sensor quality?

OEM sensors only!!!!! Check wiring and connectors to cam sensor and to crank sensor. If I remember correctly a bad crank sensor could cause the issue also.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Thanks. I always do check all connections. I'll try that and see what happens.

I own 3 Neons as loaner cars. One of mine was always throwing a cam sensor code. Turned out the timing belt was off one tooth.

Absolutely OEM sensors only! Usually if there is a code coming up, there is another issue. Connectors have been a source of frustration. So I have replaced many of them as well. And there again, only OEM wiring pigtails.

Gluten for punishment?

I've heard you talk about loaners and sometime soon I'm going to PM you with some questions if you don't mind.

If you guys ever get into a conversation about the loaner car thing, please post it as a topic. I think a lot of people would benefit from the conversation, including me.
