2005 ford freestar transmission has no gears & no fluid change when running or not running

not gioing into great detail here but when you state there is no "fluid" change what are you talking about? is the gear selector on the transmission working? can you feel it engage when shifting into reverse? pull the plug and get pressure reading. if there is pressure but no engagement check whit your scanner and see what solenoids are engaged. if there is no pressure the converter may have failed. another thing i do is to put it in drive then back to park. if all hell brakes loose and it clatters and bangs like it would when someone puts a vehicle into park while it's still rolling the final drive in the tranny has snapped. if the tranny has to be replaced or rebuilt make sure the flow into the cooler is clear and clean.........................................

The pump is driven by a rod from the front of the converter through the input shaft. If the fluid level does not drop after being started you probably have a stripped drive plate in the front of the converter. This is common on the Ax4N/S.

What condition is the fluid in? Is the computer comanding it to shift but not shifting? What codes do you get? Include some info with your question and ill be glad to help.

hey, just a quickie here, these little gems eat lower all joints. might want to look at them for an up sell............
