1997 Ford Taurus - GEM Module

Can someone tell me if I were to replace the GEM Module in a 1997 Taurus LS with anti theft would I have to program it if I used a used GEM Module with the same part ##'s Thanks

I'm going with you are talking about a used one. It's a crap shoot because not only are you dealing with anti theft but a few other issues. Power windows, power seats, sound system, heated seats, are the most common. The gem module is like a clean piece of paper when it's new and it all depends what's written on it.

The good thing is it's a Taurus not a Town Car and basically 90% of the ones in salvage yards will fit the needed requirements. There are companies that will sell remans and program them by vin for a reasonable price.

Steve's right, sometimes it's a crap-shoot. Looking at the procedures, it appears that you only need to program when you replace the RAPS module. So it's likely that it's not needed.
