In need of some quick survey info about operating systems in our customers' shops; please take a second to tick (UK for check) the box that best describes your network PCs. If I missed a combo, let me know. Thanks!

One of our workstations is still 2000, 3 workstations with XP, and my laptop is Vista (I'm too scared to attempt to link it to Mitchell).

Server and 2 workstations are Win 2000 Pro. One workstation is XP Pro. Laptop is Vista (unfortunately). I purchased 4 more Win XP Pro licenses before it was too late and the next upgrades will all be XP.

The server is windows 2000. The workstations are XP Pro (5). My personal computer is running a beta of Windows 7 64bit(after turning off the protection file shopkey and online repair and estimating work fine for now).

Three workstations with XP (one being used as a psuedo server), and my lap top, also with XP.

Finding my laptop, over a year ago, with XP Pro was quite the ordeal, I can only imagine what it would be like today.

I have a dedicated server and 3 work stations all running XP Pro. Has been working well.

I last summer purchased a Bosch VCI master tech that, at that time, would not run on Vista. ( They just recently have a Vistsa compatability ).
After not finding a suitable used laptop with XP I purchased one with Vista and my son was able to install XP on it and make it work. It is ery nice to have a built in IT guy, and he his very proficient.

It's still possible, they call it a "professional downgrade" and some charge $99 for it. Steady seller too!

Tim
Was talking to my son last night. He works for the HP distributer in LA.
The big new thing thats here is virtual machines. One host computer that holds all files and licenses and a thin client that will access the server. The clients that there experimenting with have a one gig solid state hard drive and one gig of memory. The OS on the client has enough info to wake up and log in. The server can run XP, Vista, what ever and the operating systems will run side by side and not even know the other one is there. So it looks like in the future Mitchell with a major main frame could host all of our data.
